The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) NODA was established in 1899 for the express purpose of bringing together members of amateur operatic and dramatic groups for their mutual assistance and combined benefit. It is devoted exclusively to the amateur stage, is a recognised charity and provides a local and personal service. The NODA Summer School provides first class training under qualified professional instructors for which bursaries are available. Each NODA Area holds an annual conference weekend, which, apart from the necessary business meetings also comprises workshops, a cabaret, and various gastronomic feasts, whilst still leaving plenty time for inter-society socialising. The Scottish Area Annual Conference takes place at the Peebles Hydro Hotel in late October each year. Other benefits available to Societies are:-
Long Service Awards – from 10 years service onwards - are issued by NODA on receipt of a duly completed and countersigned application from the Society. For presentation on the last night of our February show, completed applications should be with the Management Committee before the Christmas break. A quarterly National magazine and a quarterly Scottish Area magazine is received by the Society. This is available for viewing at rehearsals. For further information on NODA please contact Mike Pendlowski.
