Rehearsal priorities

Do please take a look at the Rehearsal priorities page, which gives lists of the chorus items that Eddie feels would benefit from further study!

Iolanthe 1985

George Hutchison kindly supplied these photos of our 1985 production, which he loved, though he recalls the ‘older’ ladies objected to being stuck up on what one described as the “top deck of a bus”.

On the left we have Suzy Burnett looking at Linda Towers, for which George suggested the caption “One day I’ll get to play the part of the Fairy Queen”! And doesn’t Robin Ozog (Tolloller) look quite boyish! Amazingly he still looks young enough to play Strephon!

Summer concert dates

Carnegie Hall has been booked for the evening of Friday 15 June, when we plan to present a concert version of Princess Ida. A rare opportunity, since the Society last produced this opera in 1992. Better still, we will be repeating the concert on Sunday 9 September at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Watch this page (after our current show!) for audition and rehearsal dates.

Rehearsal schedule

The Rehearsal page now contains a tea/coffee rota as well as the current rehearsal schedule.

Rehearsal aids!

The page at this link contains links to the files created by Willie Campbell, and other aids to rehearsal. Note that many extra files were added on 11 January.

EGM

At the EGM that took place on Wednesday 2 November, the proposal from the Management Committee, that our 2013 main show be Patience, was passed nem con – “nobody at all contradicente”, in the words of a certain noble Lord! You can enjoy a preview of the show by going to the G&S archive, which includes links to the 1951 recording by the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, which you can download or listen to on-line for free!

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

The 2012 production of Iolanthe will run at the Carnegie Hall from 8–11 February, with an appearance on Sunday 12 February at Pitlochry.

The 2012 Summer Concert will be on Friday 15 June in the Carnegie Hall, with a repeat at Pitlochry on Sunday 9 September.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Subs for 2011–12 remain at £105 (students and unemployed £65), when paid as a single payment by 31 October 2011.

Alternatively, the subscription may be paid by standing order in twelve monthly instalments of £9 (£5.50 concession) between May 2011 and April 2012.

If you haven’t yet started, you can pay £54 (£33 concession) by 31 October, followed by six monthly payments of £9 (£5.50) between November 2011 and April 2012.

Please use the standing order form at this link. The form also contains our bank details if you prefer to use electronic banking.

Whichever way you look at it, membership is still a bargain at little over £2.00 per week, including refreshments at rehearsals!
