Andrew Sim
Attending Aberdeen Grammar School for Boys afforded Andrew an early opportunity to demonstrate his feminine side when playing the role of the Countess in a school's version of The Marriage of Figaro.
During his boy soprano years, Andrew was a member of the Aberdeen Arian Choir under the baton of May Carruthers-Greig and enjoyed success at the annual music festivals.
For the next 20 years, singing was confined to the bathroom and bar-room. In 1982 Andrew decided to join the Dunfermline Gilbert & Sullivan Society to become a pirate and has been a regular participant ever since. He has been delighted to undertake a number of principal roles, his favourites being Captain Corcoran, Dr. Daly and Richard Dauntless.
Andrew is a member of the small band of principals who have served on the committee of the Society, having been both Chairman and Vice Chairman.
Andrew is also a member of Limelight, the concert group, along Society principal Carol Loveridge and former Society principals Liz Hutchings, June Jack and Ian Osborne with Willie Campbell regularly providing his expertise on the piano.
Andrew looks forward to many more years of performing with the Society. Appearances with Dunfermline Gilbert & Sullivan Society |
