Dunfermline G & S Soc "The Pirates of Penzance" 14 - 18 February 2006 Director: Peter Macfarlane Musical Director: Eddie MacLennan
Once again Dunfermline G&S Society provided a classic evening of Gilbert & Sullivan at its best with their production of "The Pirates of Penzance". As always, the production was well dressed, well staged and meticulously lit - a visual treat! Individual performances were strong, with Robin Ozog in fine swashbuckling style as the Pirate King. Frederic was in the capable hands of Michael McFarlane, with Linda Milne a fine Mabel - and excellent pairing. Carol Loveridge was a polished Ruth, Colin Stubbs an imposing Major-General Stanley and Martin Tarr an excellent comic Sergeant of Police. Amanda Peacock, Susan Burnett and Hayley Guild gave excellent support as Edith, Kate and Isabel respectively. The company, in exceptionally fine voice, dominated the stage and executed all their moves well. Chorus movement was particularly well handled by the director and there were numerous original touches throughout the production.
